McKay Landing in Broomfield: Real Estate Guide
McKay Landing is a beautiful Broomfield community surrounded by nature. Located between Denver and Boulder and offering affordable homes, it is truly unique.
A peaceful retreat for singles, couples, and families alike, McKay Landing in Broomfield, Colorado, is a resort-like town with a difference: it’s actually quite affordable. If you’re looking to move to a community that takes relaxation and recreation seriously, but won’t cost you your life savings (and then some) to own a home, then McKay Landing is the destination for you.
McKay Landing Overview
McKay Landing is situated next to McKay Lake, in the Broomfield area of Colorado. The neighborhood is surrounded by wet preserves, open space, and countless hiking/biking/skating trails. If you feel at your best when close to nature, McKay’s Landing will feel like a perfect paradise to you.
Aside from the gorgeous natural setting of McKay Landing, there’s plenty to keep you busy. The community is a mere 20 miles from both Denver and Boulder, which means that city life and urban activity is never far away.
Grocery stores are located within 5 miles of the neighborhood. Various retail stores–such as J.C. Penney, Staples, and Target–can be found nearby, too. If you prefer more of a shopping center environment, though, you’ll be happy to know that Flatirons Mall is less than fifteen minutes away.
Market Trends of McKay Landing
Of course, one of the best things about McKay Landing is its affordability. Unlike a lot of other resort-style communities in this region of the state, you don’t need to be a millionaire to live here. That being said, the houses for sale are truly gorgeous, and in no way reflect the affordability of the neighborhood poorly.
The median sales price for a home in McKay Landing is currently $195,000, a full $200,000 less than relative neighbor The Broadlands. Unsurprisingly, the median list price for homes in the area is right near the sales price–because they’re so affordable to begin with, there’s not much wiggle room with negotiation.
All this isn’t to say, however, that there aren’t luxury homes available in the McKay Landing area, because there certainly are.
In the last six months, 17 houses were sold. Currently there are about 30 listings on the market. This isn’t a gigantic community, so you won’t usually see more than two or three dozen homes for sale at any one time. It takes a little longer for houses to be sold here, but reports predict all 30 homes will be sold within the next 10.5 months. This makes turnover fairly quick, which is great to know if you ever decide you want to leave McKay Landing.
But we think if you move there, you’ll be staying there for a long time to come.
